As a nation, there is a lot of work ahead of us to get our country back on track. We face countless challenges ahead, but I’m confident that together we can get it done.
Getting America Back to Work
I believe putting America back to work is the most important issue facing Congress today. My highest priority when elected to Congress is to help get our economy back on track and to create real economic opportunity for Texans. I recognize that true economic recovery requires not just creating jobs, but also saving them. That means investing in our roads, bridges, schools, and new technologies. But, it also means creating an economic environment where small businesses can thrive. As a Certified Public Account and financial professional, I have first-hand knowledge of how immediate tax relief for small businesses can spur growth and promote entrepreneurship. I will fight to make sure we do not revert back to the practices that created the current economic situation, while ensuring that our federal government’s economic policy benefits the families and businesses of the District.
Investing in America’s Future
As a public official I have always believed taxpayers should get a return on their investment. Taxpayer’s money should be invested back into them, providing quality education for their children, health security for themselves and their family, and taking care of our public spaces. We need to invest in each other so that we leave to our children an America we are all proud of.
Protecting our Senior Citizens Relentlessly

We have a financial and moral obligation to keep the promises we made to our senior citizens and protect Social Security and Medicare. The reality is that many older Americans rely on these programs for their everyday survival, and cuts to these programs could have catastrophic effects particularly during these trying economic times.
I am committed to real, common sense solutions to preserve Social Security and Medicare, and I will fight any attempts to completely dismantle those programs that will leave senior citizens vulnerable.
Coming Together to Work Together
Getting the job done means being able to reach across party and ideological lines to find common ground around our shared values. Comprise is a delicate process and we have witnessed the failure of it in Washington far too often. As a state representative, I authored 90 legislative bills and even passed a major constitutional bill during my freshman year. I was able to achieve this legislative success because I am a consensus builder, someone who listens and respects the other side. I’ll take this skill with me to our nation’s capital and work to end gridlock.
